BThis Paint Color Trend Will Be Everywhere for the Rest of 2025, Pros Say.

If you don’t know where to start when it comes to sprucing up your home to put it on the market, a fresh coat of paint is always an impactful (and affordable) first step. But before you cover your walls in a classic white hue or go for a moody all-black look, it helps to know exactly what buyers are connecting with as they hit the housing market in search of their next home.

Here’s the news: According to Fixr’s 2025 Interior Design and Color Trends Report, which surveyed 67 home stagers and designers, color is making a comeback. But before you slather your walls in lime green, one of the main takeaways from the report is that people are loving nature-inspired paint colors (think: the calm, deep greens of sunlit leaves like soothing sage green, and the warmth of earth tones like soft blush and deep brown). So what else is trending? And how can you replicate it in your staging project?

Nature-Inspired Interiors Are on the Rise

From painted walls that mimic the morning light to palettes pulled straight from the natural environment, interiors in 2025 are taking a cue from nature in bold, expressive ways. According to Fixr’s report, 60% of experts say the year’s top trend is about fusing the connection between indoor spaces and the outdoors — and color is one of the easiest ways to do it.

Earthy palettes drawn from terracotta, deep forest greens, and soft sky blues reflect the growing interest in bringing that natural feeling indoors,” says designer Ellen Kennon.Designer Kate Smith echoes this sentiment. “There’s something timeless about building off the colors that already exist just outside your windows.”

Color-Drenching and Warm Neutrals Dominate 2025

Fifty five percent of experts surveyed say the leading trend this year is color-drenching: Using the same color on walls, trim, cabinetry, and even ceilings creates a unified, bold look, explains Margaret Gehr, an expert at Chicagoland Home Staging.

Other industry experts surveyed agreed that warm neutrals are a top color trend this year (49%). Home stager Shirin Sarikhani says she believes “warm neutrals are here to stay for a while.”Trailing closely behind warm neutrals are dark, earthy greens (48%), hues that experts say are uplifting, soothing,g and grounding, and they’re popular in home offices, followed by

deep jewel tones, rustic browns, taupes, and grays (34%). Other trends and shades mentioned include painted ceilings (24%), rich, earthy reds (24%), bold mixes of candied tones (19%), black walls (12%), and painted archways and door frames (10%).

Every 2025 Color of the Year That Experts Loved

Every year, major paint brands announce a Color of the Year, a single shade or group of shades that capture the mood and direction the design industry is heading toward in the upcoming months. These colors also reflect how you want your home to look and feel, from bold and energizing to calm and cozy. This year, paint hues lean toward warmth and grounded colors found in nature — and these specific ones resonated with stagers and designers the most.

Twenty-two percent of experts selected STAINMASTER’S Truffle as their favorite color of the year. Truffle is a bold, elegant shade of deep brown that reflects the rich, earthy tones designers say strike a balance between depth and ease, notes the report.

Second place goes to C2 Paint’s Raku (18%), another earthy deep brown, followed by Krylon’s Hammered Black (12%). These rich, warm shades alongside grounding neutrals will make this an exciting year for color, says Tamra Pfeifer, a home stager in the study.

Less popular but still mentioned include HGTV Home’s Quietude, a sage-ish green; Behr’s Rumors, a purplish-red; Graham Brown’s Edlerton, a mocha-shade; and Little Greene’s Mochi, a light taupe, among others that spanned the blue, green, red, and brown spectrum.

How These Color Trends Match with Selling a Home

But how do these color trends square with what buyers actually want? Pretty well, actually — according to the study, the best paint colors to add value in living spaces are soft, warm whites (85%), followed by greige (28%) and beige (24%). Less popular but also mentioned was taupe (18%) and blush earthy tones (12%). Other paint colors included soft greens (10%), browns (6%), cool blues (3%), deep blues, and grays (2%).For bedrooms, warm neutrals (76%) were the most popular among experts, followed by soft or warm whites (42%) and earthy greens (25%). Not as popular but still named for bedroom paint colors included cool blues (18%), blush tones (10%), taupe (10%), beige (8%), and soft pastels (6%)
